Approve the ordinance on first reading, and set for second reading and public hearing on October 19, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard.

The Alamosa Fire Department along with all of the Fire Districts in the San Luis Valley have had a mutual aid agreement in place since the early 70’s which allows fire departments in the Valley to request assistance at any time from neighboring agencies when needed. The agreement was last updated in 2016.
This update of the agreement is simply updating a few of the entities' legal names. No other changes have been made. |

2) Reject the MOU as written and provide Staff with further direction.

Costs of responding to requests for aid vary widely from year to year, but are estimated at an average of $2500 per year.

The City Attorney will be available for comment at the meeting.

This agreement for mutual aid provides essential framework for both giving and receiving assistance for major fire incidents throughout the Valley. |
